Roland Burris was elected Illinois Attorney General from 1990 until 1995. In this capacity, he concentrated on civil rights, consumer affairs, and environmental concerns.
Christian missionaries known as The Nine Saints of Ethiopia entered the Aksumite Kingdom during the late 5th century, following persecution from the Council of Chalcedon. They were born in regions like Syria, Constantinople, and Rome and were instrumental in spreading Christianity beyond the royal court and into rural Ethiopia. Many of the monasteries and churches established by each saint are still active pilgrimage sites today. Their work included translation of biblical texts into Ge'ez, preservation of ancient scriptures such as the Book of Enoch, and the establishment of Ethiopia's rich monastic tradition. The legacy they left behind still has an impact on Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity identity.
