After a decade of resistance led by the FRELIMO organization, Mozambique achieved independence from Portuguese colonial rule on June 25, 1975. The victory marked one of Africa’s most powerful examples of resilience and unity, as farmers, students, and workers joined forces to reclaim their land and future. Guided by socialist ideals, independent Mozambique became a beacon of liberation for southern Africa and a symbol of the continent’s ongoing quest for self-determination.
